That’s What Christmas is All About, Charlie Brown

Jennifer Nietz - Director of Operations

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger, and suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth Peace, Good Will Toward Men.” That’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.

Every year, it gets me. I find as I start every Christmas season this little gem of a cartoon brings me to tears. Why? I think it is a great reminder that comes at the start of the hustle and bustle and really knocks you back a step. It helped me to see what matters the most this time of year to me.

It is something about the delivery of this divine little verse that inspires me. Inspires me to really focus on the small stuff and see the best in people this time of year and what the season brings out in people. It encourages me to give and give endlessly the gift of time, emotion, and even gifts. It makes me realize just how blessed each of us is to wake up every morning and helps me remember those who are hurting in some way because they don’t have a loved one around this holiday. It provokes me to want to do something to support those in our community who are in need.

This holiday season, as I look around, I am truly blessed to be surrounded by people who believe, as well, in the greater good of others. As we approach the New Year I ask all those who might stumble across this article to do three simple things:

  1. Give Endlessly
  2. Believe in the Greater Good
  3. Say “I love you” to those in your Life

And maybe one more…don’t resist the power of being inspired by something like a cartoon.

Thank you Linus!
